The Challenge

Franklin City Public Schools operate an elementary, middle, and high school. Across these campuses, 134 PTAC units were individually controlled by classroom staff, making it difficult to manage costs. The district needed an affordable way to remotely monitor and control each unit.

The Solution

Partnering with ABM, FCPS signed an energy performance contract. ABM selected Autani’s EnergyCenter for its wireless installation, intuitive scheduling, and lockout capabilities at a budget-friendly price.

Managed thermostats were first deployed at the high school, then expanded to the middle and elementary schools. Outdoor lighting controls were also installed across all campuses to capture additional savings.

The Results

FCPS now remotely monitors and controls every PTAC unit and outdoor light fixture. The system has delivered significant savings and fully met the district’s guaranteed energy targets.
